  • Community Waste Disposal Update

Check out the update below from Community Waste Disposal regarding upcoming inclement weather!

We continue to monitor the winter storm coming in. As of now, we are expecting to run Thursday routes as scheduled. We do not expect to complete all Thursday collections as we are anticipating the conditions to worsen throughout the day and landfills closing early. If conditions allow, our hope is to complete as much Thursday service as safely possible.

As of 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, we are asking for residents with Thursday collections to have their carts/bags at the curb by 7 a.m. Thursday.

CWD will evaluate road conditions early tomorrow morning and IF we are already seeing a wintery mix, collections will be called off by 7 a.m. Should collection be suspended tomorrow, CWD will evaluate and begin to work on a recovery plan.

We put the utmost priority on the safety of the CWD drivers, residents in your community and other cars on the road. All operational decisions made, will keep that in mind.

As always – please continue to check the CWD website for details and most up to date information.

  • Community Waste Disposal Service Update

CWD has not made the decision on any collection delays at this time. Operational decisions are very complex and involve multiple collection types, area conditions, etc.

As a reminder, below are our standard procedures once an operational decision has been made:

    • CWD will update the website – activating the weather notice banner and city summary page
      • Intention of this initial notice is to mass communicate the decision; more detail will be provided after CWD assesses the situation.
    • Once activated a weather alert will be sent to contacts that have opted in
      • To sign up for a weather alert, go to CWD’s homepage and Subscribe at the very bottom. Ensure that you check the box to receive the weather alerts.
      • Both residents and staff can be added to the city’s distribution of a weather alert, feel free to share this with the public.
    • CWD will then send out communication to each City impacted with additional information about the action plan.
