End of Year Update 2023
It has been a productive 2023. The City of Corinth Public Works Department is looking forward to making these updates in 2024!
For more details and any questions, please reach out to Glenn.Barker@CityofCorinth.com.
-
Public Works Maintenance Zones: Focused efforts to maintain and beautify specific areas, ensuring a cleaner and safer environment for everyone. Public Works will focus on ensuring that we touch every asset the City owns within this zone over the year. In 2024 the City will focus on Zone 4 of the Map. We are working on getting a dashboard so that progress can be tracked and shown.
The Parks crews replaced trees in medians, added water rings around the trees, add landscape boulders on 2499. In the spring we will start planting on 2499.
-
Community Meetings: Within the current Public Works Maintenance Zone, the City will reach out to each subdivision to discuss concerns or issues that affect that subdivision. This provides you with a platform to voice your concerns and ideas, strengthening the bond within our community. Here are the neighborhoods that we will be reaching out to in 2024.
Kensington
Northwood
Bluffs
Lake Sharon
Meadowview Areas
-
Street Maintenance 10-Year Program: A long-term commitment to improving our roads, enhancing accessibility, and ensuring smooth travel for all residents. View the 2024 Street Maintenance list HERE.
The re-connection of N. Corinth Street is complete.
Old 77 will start in the beginning of January.
-
Park Improvements: Revitalizing our green spaces, making them more enjoyable and conducive for family activities and relaxation. We have completed the Meadowview and Fairview Park upgrades with new play structures, cleaned up trails, added sidewalks, added pickleball courts, and resurfaced basketball courts. In 2024 we will turn our focus to Windsor Ridge Park.
Windsor Ridge Park build will be in March/April 2024.
The Parks and Recreation Board has requested that we are seeking funds from Council for 2025 to build a Pickleball court. Please let us know if you have the perfect location if it gets approved!
-
Sport Complex Improvements: The goal is to have a top-notch venue that attracts tournaments, but more importantly keeps Corinth Athletes here in Corinth. We have expanded the Soccer game area, improved baseball and softball field conditions, and improved overall drainage in the park. In 2024 we will improve the baseball practice area and focus on turf conditioning of the game fields.
The crews cleaned up the tree line, and prepped the fields for the off-season.
There was a major water leak that damaged softball field #3, the crews will focus on those repairs in January 2024.
Water and Wastewater System: The Emergency generators are ready for winter. The next major goal is to improve the communication systems for the water and wastewater systems. Day-to-day activities are the zone area preventative maintenance.
Broadband: The crews are at 90% completion of installing the conduit. The conduit install is the most impactful to our infrastructure and our residents. This process risks hitting unknown lines and can leaves yards a mess. Please check your irrigation if the boring companies come through your street, they have been great at making repairs as needed, but we need to let them know ASAP. The expectation is to have 100% of the City (minus new developments) up and running by March 1, 2024 at the latest.
-
Engineering: The best place for monthly project updates is HERE. Below are some highlights of questions that Public Works continuously gets asked:
Lighting on Lake Sharon is getting close to being completed. The contractor had equipment issues, this project is taking longer than expected. We are expecting an early January completion.
- The N Corinth St roundabout temporary utility poles are currently waiting on Dart Permits to install the wiring properly in this area. We don't have a timetable for Dart. I followed up on 12/18/2024 with no date set.
- The Lynchburg Creek Flood project is still underway and is moving slowly due to engineering issues and land acquisition.
- Agora Park is currently working on the Stage and site grading. Opening day is set for early March!!!
